The earliest cancellations for Damariscotta were likely made by hand, called manuscript cancellations. Based on the correspondence inside, this cover was canceled less than three months after the post office opened.
1940? February 7:
The circular postmark is 26–27 mm in diameter.
1965 July 21:
The circular cancellation is approximately 20 mm in diameter.
Damariscotta post office is still in operation.
