(updated 24 May 2010)

Information for cemeteries of Bowdoin was published in the book Cemetery Inscriptions and Revolutionary, War of 1812, and Civil War Veterans of Bowdoin, Maine by Charlene B. Bartlett and Jayne E. Bickford. 182 pages (including index). copyright 1993. ISBN 1-55613-771-0. Available from the Town of Bowdoin.

This book included all known cemeteries for the Sagadahoc County, Maine, town of Bowdoin. For each cemetery, there are directions, occasionally some history or notes about the cemetery's condition, plus the year(s) that the data were recorded. Entries appear to be arranged by lot. In addition to the gravestone inscriptions, there are 13 pages of names (and sometimes birth and death dates) of veterans of the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, and the Civil War. An index to all surnames is provided.

The following material is divided into two sections and contains additions and corrections for the above book. The first section is an index of names of people whose information in the book needs to be corrected or updated (a recent death date for example) or whose information is new (not available when the book was prepared) or was overlooked. Click on one of these names and you will be taken to the section that contains the actual additions/corrections that are arranged first by cemetery and then alphabetically by surname. In this second section, green text is used for an entry not found in the book. Red text updates/corrects an entry already in the book. The additions and corrections below follow the format of the book as much as possible. No attempt has been made to determine the correctness of information not found on a stone (e. g., when the book reads "daughter of ..." but the stone does not), and spelling differences (e. g., VARNAM vs. VARNUM) have not been noted.

If you have any corrections or additions to the list below, please e-mail info@vfthomas.com.
