Purpose of this web page: The purpose of this web page is to present, in an accessible way, information about Mount Desert Island's trails and memorial paths. Eventually, a separate web page will be created for each trail/path and links will be provided below. Specifically, as I hike one of the trails, I will write about the hike and will include pictures. For those of you who plan to visit Mount Desert Island, these write-ups may help you choose where you wish to hike (or not!).
   A trail is listed under a town (or towns) based on the location of its endpoints. Trails with numbers below 100 are marked and maintained trails on the east side of Mount Desert Island, and trails numbered in the 100s are marked and maintained on the west side of the island.
