Route. Between Great (Long) Pond Trail (ANP #118) and Mansell Mountain Trail / East Peak Trail (ANP #115)

Directions to trail head. Just north of the village of Soutwest Harbor, turn west (at Eugene M. Norwood Square) from Route 102 onto Seal Cove Road. In approximately 0.5 miles turn right onto Long Pond Road and follow it to the end where you can park near the pumping station at the south end of the pond. (Note: there is no swimming allowed in this public water supply.) Walk past the pumping station to the beginning (south end) of the Great (Long) Pond Trail (ANP #118). UTM: 19T 0551810, 4905413; Lat./Long.: N 44°18′00.5″ x W 68°21′01.8″.

Follow this trail 0.2 miles to the intersection on the left (west) with the beginning (east end) of the Perpendicular Trail (ANP #119). UTM: 19T 0551559, 4905590; Lat./Long.: N 44°18′06.2″ x W 68°21′13.1″.

As you begin to climb, you will see a very contorted northern white-cedar (Thuja occidentalis) on your left.

Shortly before the summit of Mansell is a lookout ...

... toward the northeast ...

... through the southeast.

The trail then passes over the summit of Mansell Mountain ...

... and meets Mansell Mountain Trail / East Peak Trail (ANP #115) 0.1 miles west of the summit.
