| Directions to trail head. Just north of the village of Soutwest Harbor, turn west (at Eugene M. Norwood Square) from Route 102 onto Seal Cove Road. In approximately 0.5 miles turn right onto Long Pond Road and follow it to the end where you can park near the pumping station at the south end of the pond. (Note: there is no swimming allowed in this public water supply.) Walk past the pumping station to the signpost shown here, the beginning (south end) of the Great (Long) Pond Trail. In 0.2 miles (0.3 km) there is the intersection on the left (west) with the Perpendicular Trail (ANP #119), which goes over the summit of Mansell Mountain. | The Great (Long) Pond Trail continues along the west side of Long Pond and then diverges (west) from the pond, eventually turning south to meet Western Mountain Trail (ANP #120). |
