Welcome to the Markers, Monuments, and Memorials of Mount Desert Island home page, part of the Mount Desert Island Cultural History Project.

Purpose of this web page: The purpose of this web page is to present information about Mount Desert Island's markers, monuments, and memorials in an accessible way. These objects usually honor a person or persons (sometimes unnamed), but one marks a site of a former building (first townhouse in Eden). Links to images of the island's monuments, markers, and memorials are provided below.
