The earliest census record for Mount Desert Island that listed a Lurvey as a "head of family" was the 1800 census of the town of Mount Desert, which reported a Jacob Lurvey household with 8 members. (Note that these 8 did not all have to be Lurveys and that one or more Lurveys might have been living in one or more other households.) Subsequent years reported the following households, all in the town of Mount Desert.
1810: Jacob (8 residents including Jacob)
1820: Jacob (7), Isaac (3), Samuel (6)
1830: Jacob (2), Isaac (5), Samuel (8), Enoch (2)
1840: Isaac (10), Samuel (12), Enoch (8)
Until the 1850 census, individuals members of a household were reported only by a tally in a category (e.g., "females under 10").
