   The earliest census of Mount Desert Island that listed a Babson as a "head of family" was the 1820 census of the town of Mount Desert, which reported an Ebenezer Babson household with 3 members: 1 male 26–45, 1 female under 10, and 1 female 16–26. (Note that these 3 did not all have to be Babsons and that one or more Babsons might have been living in one or more other households.)
