Beginning at a stake in a pile of stones on the western side of the highway [now Old County Road] leading from Town Hill to the toll bridge and at the eastern line of land of said Wellington H. Cousins;
then following the southeast line of said Wellington H. Cousins to a large rock at the shore;
then following the shore southerly to the northwest corner bound of land formerly of Jesse Higgins;
then southeast by land last mentioned to said highway;
then by said highway to the place of beginning.
Also the flats in front of said land or the land between high and low water mark.
Note: An entry on page 19 of book 286 reads [punctuation and grammar updated]: “Whereas Samuel H. Cousins of Eden, Hancock County, Maine, on this day conveyed to me, Wellington H. Cousins of said Eden, his homestead containing 40 acres, more or less, the said Wellington H. Cousins, in consideration of the conveyance aforesaid, agree to and with the said Samuel H. cousins to support and maintain both him, the said Samuel H. Cousins, and his wife, Martha A. Cousins, during the remainder of their natural lives, with necessary and proper food, clothing, shelter, medicine and medical attendance ... and suitable burial for each of them at their death, regard being had to their degree and standing in life. The said Samuel H. Cousins and Martha A. Cousins to live in and with the family of the said Wellington H. Cousins and where the said Wellington H. Cousins now lives. The said Samuel H. Cousins is to be allowed one-half of an acre of land on the aforesaid parcel of land this day conveyed to be selected where he may desire to plant on and to have the proceeds of his planting.”
