Location/directions: Otter Creek Burial Ground is located behind 170 Otter Creek Road. From the northernmost intersection on Mount Desert Island, bear left on Route 3. Travel approximately 10.1 miles to a stop sign. Turn left onto Mount Desert Street (Route 3) and continue 0.4–0.5 miles to another stop sign. Turn right at this stop sign, following Route 3. Notes: Three gravestones (two of them visible in the image below left), a footstone, and a base (or pedestal?) of a gravestone were located on 24 April 2010 (image below left). The base (pedestal?) is just to the upper left of Katie's stone. Note the two holes to accommodate the iron rods. Due to discarded construction debris covering the area, other stones, pedestals, or bases that might have been in the burial ground would not have been seen. By 30 November 2010 the construction debris had been removed, and also the base (or pedestal?) that was present in April was gone (image further below or below right, depending on your monitor width).
